Benchmarx Kitchens introduces versatile new colour to its collection

Benchmarx Kitchens has launched a new trend-driven colour – Taupe – to its Cambridge range of Shaker kitchens, in addition to welcoming Driftwood Blue to its Sherwood family.

Taupe joins Benchmarx’s existing collection of neutral tones, creating an even wider spectrum of options for those lusting after cabinet doors that add timeless appeal. In a classic Shaker design, the new hue is the perfect base for any interior scheme – as well as being compatible with other finishes to create a harmonious two-tone design.

With demand for neutral kitchens continuing to rise, Benchmarx’s new Taupe finish provides homeowners with a warm option that looks effortlessly chic when paired with complementary neutrals or pastel colour pops.

The timeless narrow-edged Shaker panelling on each door offers complete design versatility – the Cambridge range is as at home in a contemporary scheme as it is in period surroundings. The colour also continues through to each door’s interior, maintaining a truly consistent aesthetic.

To create an uncluttered and high-end look, the Cambridge range is available in a True Handleless design, which creates streamlined fascias and uninterrupted lines that exude simplicity.

Benchmarx Kitchens has also expanded its options in popular hue, Driftwood Blue, which is now available in the Sherwood range. Originally introduced to the kitchen manufacturer’s Cambridge range in 2022, the hue became a firm favourite among homeowners – featuring as Benchmarx’s top-selling blue kitchen in 2023.

Embodying the colour of sea water, while carefully integrating grey and green undertones, Driftwood Blue evokes feelings of calm and comfort, making it a perfect addition to the home.

Ruth Lavender, design expert at Benchmarx Kitchens, comments on the hues:

Taupe

“A neutral that’s ideal for creating a warm, welcoming environment, Taupe is the perfect hue for the kitchen. Ideal for both traditional and modern designs, the colour pairs beautifully with white, warm woods and a variety of different stone finishes. It’s also the ideal backdrop for a pop of colour, which could be introduced through tiling, splashbacks or accessories.

“Taupe seamlessly bridges the gap between warm neutrals and greys, offering an option that is neutral enough to pair with complementary cabinet finishes like Sage Green or Sandstone Oak, but also stands out when styled with a striking, deep-veined marble.

“When opting for a handled option, I’d recommend pairing the cabinets with warm metallics like brushed brass, gold or copper, as these finishes bring out the warmth of the cabinets, creating a cohesive, considered look.

“Equally, Taupe can be used to complement a darker scheme, and works well with dark marbles, deep-toned woods and black metallic accessories such as handles, lighting and taps. Taupe balances these dark tones, keeping the space feeling light and airy, while drama can be added through worktops, splashbacks and accessories.

Driftwood Blue

“With the increase in popularity for cabinet colours that take inspiration from the natural world, Driftwood Blue is the ideal shade to add an interesting focal point that is entirely scalable depending on the desired look.

“When the colour is used across cabinetry, it can effortlessly characterise the space without feeling overwhelming. It’s a hue that blends seamlessly with whites and creams for a light, airy combination. This creates a spacious feel even in space-limited designs, while at the same time illuminating its surroundings.

“Equally, this versatile shade works well with more daring hues, including dark greys and black accents, which can accentuate its blue tones.

“When paired with neutral walls and a marble-effect worktop, Driftwood Blue provides the perfect backdrop to showcase a subtle splash of vibrancy in the cabinets. Together, these combinations hint at a relaxing, seaside aesthetic. Accessorised with contemporary metallic handles, the Sherwood Driftwood Blue fascias maintain the traditional elements of Shaker design combined with a modern touch.

“The joy of this colourway is its versatility, with the cabinets working well when continued to surrounding areas, such as a utility room, open-plan living space or boot room.”
