JYSK delves into outdoor living trends for SS24

Over the last few years, our outside spaces have been working harder than ever and are often used as an extension of our homes, being occupied for socialising, living, working, and entertaining. This has meant that how we style the space and the furniture we choose needs to be adaptable to suit various purposes.

With the outdoor season in full swing for 2024, JYSK’s Design and Range Manager, Rikke Blaeside, sheds light on the outdoor living trends set to be the most popular over the spring-summer season.

Statement Seating

“To bring a sense of personality and additional joy to the average patio, SS24 will be the season to invest in a striking lounger or colourful garden bistro set. We’re seeing customers seek out colourful and statement seating arrangements to inject an element of personal style to their gardens, while providing functional spaces for relaxing and entertaining.

This trend follows the demand for our homes and gardens to be welcoming, cocooning spaces that reflect our personal styles and individuality, while providing comfort and restoration. When it comes to trending

colours and patterns, stripes and floral patterns remain classics while earthy and naturally inspired greens and blues will be popular, with hints of corals and oranges.”

Stone & Metals

“When it comes to garden design and outdoor living, we’re often inspired by our natural surroundings and SS24 is no different. Once again, we’re seeing a resurgence in naturally inspired materials and finishes, with metal and stone taking centre stage this year. Consciously crafted products are made from these robust materials, providing a visual contrast to the surrounding greenery.

This trend can be easily implemented through small furniture updates such as metal dining chairs and stone side tables, coupled with softer organic materials such as wood, pastel coloured glass, jute and linen drawing direct connections between design and nature.”

Paired-back silhouettes

“To make a design-led statement, garden furniture pieces with minimal impact and paired-back silhouettes are gaining traction, providing a modern and easy-breezy feel within outdoor spaces. This trend has taken hold throughout the garden furniture portfolio, from sunloungers with woven bases to sleek metal tables and chairs. The best approach is to opt for furniture items that do not feel bulky or heavy within the space, but seamlessly blend into the garden area, without impacting the surroundings and atmosphere of the area.”
